Christ Lives In YouÉ You Live In Him

1Jn 4:10-15

Review: ÒThe lineÓ between the unseen & eternalÉ & the seen & temporal

á      Above line, we are holy & blameless; complete in Christ & His righteousnessÉ below the line, we are in the process of being sanctified.

á      We can only know & see the unseen realm as the H Spirit reveals it. (1Cor 2:9-10)

Timeless                        ETERNAL (ÒI AMÓ)      Changeless

Spirit                            UNSEEN                      Ultimate reality

                  In process                      SEEN                                    Time-based

                  Matter                           TEMPORAL                 Changing

I have been crucified with Christ. (Gal 2:20)

á      The complete message of the crossÉ Christ died for you & you died with Him.

á      You died to sin, to the Law, & to yourself as the point of reference for your life.

á      Having our sins forgiven doesnÕt address the source of sinsÉ our sin nature. (Rm 7:17)

á      Sin nature (old man) has been crucified, so we are no longer slaves to sin. (Rm 6:6)

á      As we rest in Christ, we are free of the Law & free to allow Christ to fulfill it thru us.

o     The Law can hinder believersÉ we try to fulfill it thru our own efforts. (Gal 3:1-3)

á      WhatÕs your point of referenceÉ is it still you? (I no longer liveÉ (Gal 2:20))

o     As long as emphasis is on me, it cannot be on Christ.

á      Until we see ourselves as crucified, weÕll never be free of ourselvesÉ spot light is upon self

& weÕll experience frustration trying to produce for God.

á      It is not possible to live for Christ without first having died with Christ.

Be filled with the Holy SpiritÉ (Eph 5:18)

á       ÒBe filledÓ is in the imperative moodÉ it is a command.

á      ÒBe filledÓ is in the passive voiceÉ not to fill yourself, but something done to us.

o     PTL for passive voice, itÕs by grace thru faith É promise is for all. (Rm 4:16)

á      ÒBe filledÓ is in the present continuous tenseÉ literal meaning is Òbe being filledÓ.

Christ lives in youÉ He is your life. (1Jn 4:15; Col 3:4)

á      I no longer live but Christ lives in meÉ you & He are one. (Gal 2:20)

á      Christ lives in meÉ it looks like me, but it is Christ in me. (Col 1 :27)

á      What does life of Christ living thru you look like? Humble & meek. (Mt 11:28-29)

o     Learn from meÉ how He lived out the FatherÕs life within & thru his life.

á      The life Jesus lived, He lived to God. (Rm 6:10) Jesus is within us & He is living His life unto God thru usÉ He only does the will of the Father to the glory of God. (Jn 4:34)

á      Reckon yourself dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ. (Rm 6:11)

á      Stop looking at self & your performance. Christ in you is new point of referenceÉ He is always sufficient, always loving, & always doing FatherÕs will.

á      Embrace & trust Jesus in you as your life, just as you trusted Him for your salvation.

á      Jesus said I Am the life (Jn 14:6)É Life has been in us all along.

o     Have you experienced Christ living His life in & thru you? (He is the life you seek)

á      Hidden w/Christ in God (Col 3:3)É life in which we are literally nothing & Christ is all.

á      There will be a day when we ÒseeÓ that Christ is our life. (Col 3:1-4)

o     You will see yourself in ChristÉ & also see that Christ within you is your life.

á      When we see both Christ in me & me in Christ, we begin to experience fullness of Christ.

o     God wants us to be filled up to all the fullness of Christ. (Eph 4:13)

á      If we try to resist temptation in our strength, we are brought face to face with our sin & weakness, & we have opportunity to surrender & receive true strength. (2Cor 12:9-10)

á      God crucified our old man & gave us a new spirit in righteousness & holiness. (Eph 4:24)

á      As you reckon it so by faithÉ God will make it so. (Rm 6:11; Pr 23:7)

á      We are ChristÕs ambassadorsÉ as though Christ is making His appeal thru us. (2Cor 5:20)

Union with ChristÉ only way to the Sabbath rest. (Heb 4:9-11)

á      Not just that He is with or in you helping you, but that He is in you living His life as you.

á      His life is never exhausted or bitter, but always merciful, forgiving, & loving. No longer pressure of performance & goodness, but rest in Him & let Him be all in all in us.

o     If you enter GodÕs rest, you cease from your own works.

A swingÉ insight into the operation of our soul & spirit.

á      Only GodÕs Word can separate soul & spirit, or thoughts & intentions of heart. (Heb 4:12)

á      Intent of heart is fixedÉ it is for God. Thoughts & feelings fluctuate & differ from spirit.

á      We often assume our soul is our real self (spirit). But we are created to be spirit dominated beings. God is Father of our spirit (Heb 12:9), & our spirit is one with Him (1Cor 6:17) & lives in union with Him.

á      Where swing is attached is like the spiritÉ quiet, no movement, anchor, place of security.

á      Bottom of swing (seat) is like our soul & bodyÉ changing with every thought.

á      We try to stop ÒswingingÓ of fluctuating soulÉ thinking maturity is getting it under control.

á      We are acting out of our own soul directed effortÉ which cannot produce GodÕs life.

á      God uses swings in our soul-life to push us into living by faith out of our spirit.

á      If you judge reality by your soul you will miss GodÕs rest & peaceÉ may we hear the quiet voice of the spirit & live in the rest He has promised.
