Filled With The Spirit… Christ In You.
Jn 17:20-26
All believers are commanded to be being filled with the Holy Spirit. (Eph 5:18)
H Spirit indwells every true believer. (Rm 8:9) Fullness is not receiving something more.
3rd person of Trinity… all-powerful eternal God. Believers have Him!
Being filled is giving Spirit full control of you… yielding to His control & Lordship.
How will being filled with the Holy Spirit be manifested today?
Satan opposes Spirit-filled life… he has confused, opposed, & surrounded it with fears.
Spirit-filled life is not a deluxe edition of Christianity… it is for all God’s people.
True believers acknowledge their need & weakness, & sincerely seek to be filled.
The Sign of being filled w/Spirit is empowerment to boldly live & proclaim Gospel.
Spirit determines manifestation gifts... differs among believers (1Cor 12:7-11)
Christ lives in you & this is your assurance you will share in His glory.
Christ is your life… the Spirit of Christ every day dwelling within you, controlling your whole being, & increasingly living out His life in you, & thru you.
God has given us the task of reconciling others to Himself. (2Cor 5:18)
Being filled with the H Spirit gives power for holy living & effective service… & others will increasingly see Christ in you.
Christ in you… living His life in you, as you. (Gal 2:20)
You no longer live but Christ lives in you… you & He are one. (Gal 2:20)
You are in Christ & He is in you… you are one & He lives His life thru you as you.
Christ in you… His life manifested in you… your hope of glory. (Col 1:27)
Not you producing His life, but you expressing His life… as you by faith trust Him to live thru you, as you. (Faith… being certain of what we do not see. (Heb 11:1))
What does Christ’s life living thru you look like… humble & meek! (Mt 11:28-29)
The life Jesus lived, He lived to God. (Rm 6:10) Jesus is within us & He is living His life unto God thru us… He only does the will of the Father to the glory of God. (Jn 4:34)
Embrace & trust Jesus in you as your life, just as you trusted Him for your salvation.
It is not striving, but trusting that releases Christ’s life in you.
Christ lives in you… you live in Him. (Jn 17:21-23)
“The line” between the unseen & eternal… & the seen & temporal
God is the unseen, eternal, timeless, changeless One. He is I AM.
We are holy & blameless; complete in Christ & His righteousness (Col 1:22; 2:10; 2Cor 5:21)
Below the line, we are in the process of being sanctified…
Timeless ETERNAL (“I AM”) Changeless
Spirit UNSEEN Ultimate reality
In process SEEN Time-based
Matter TEMPORAL Changing
What you really believe follows the “but”… e.g. I’m holy & blameless, but I’m jealous, angry, & have lustful, worldly thoughts.
You are a child of God by birth… not performance.
When we give assent to truth that Christ lives in us, though we cannot see its reality in our lives, the H Spirit is able to make it an actual experience for us. (Pr 23:7)
When we stand on truth that we have been crucified with Christ, Spirit is able to lead us into personal experience of crucifixion with Christ.
Are you being filled with the Holy Spirit?
Christ’s deepest desire is to reincarnate Himself in you. (Jn 17:20-26)
God’s goal for you is holiness... you becoming like Christ. (Eph 4:12-13)
We are all witnesses for Christ… but are we faithful & true witnesses?
Do you really want to be filled…to be empty of self? (Gal 2:20)
We are as full as we want to be! He will fill all that’s surrendered to Him.
Is there time in your day set aside to be sanctified by God’s Word? (Rm 10:17)
Meditate on the Word (Jn 17:17; Heb 4:12; Rom 12:2)
Memorize the Word (Ps 119:11)
Prayer (Mt 26:41) Daily yield self and ask for Spirit’s infilling.
Journal God’s desire is to transform you into Christ’s image.
Fast (Mt 6:16) It strengthens the Spirit-man.
Set your will to obey God. His agenda, His will.
For many, the fire & fullness of the H Spirit is waning.
Examine yourself... power is given to be His faithful witness. Are you?
If you are not experiencing power of spirit, is anything in your life that grieves the Spirit?
If you are not filled with Spirit at any given moment, it is because of one thing… sin.
Confess & repent of your sins… where the blood cleanses, the Spirit fills. (1Jn 1:7,9)
We can not rid ourselves of the bondage to sin by our human efforts… we need a fresh infilling of the H Spirit.
Don’t be satisfied with a defeated, joyless walk… If you earnestly desire a fresh filling of H Spirit... ask & keep on asking… you will receive. (Lk 11:13)
